That book is the Holy Quran. And one of the issues given importance in reading the Quran is Tillawah.
It means reading the Quran while observing the special order that exists between the verses along with contemplating the main concepts and meanings of the verses.
The goal in this kind of reading is growth and development of human thoughts and values, which would lead to the growth of one’s character.
This is so important that God orders His messenger to read the Quran at night:
“You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, rise (to pray) the night except a little; half the night, or a little less, and recite the Quran in Tarteel as it ought to be recited.” (Verses 1-4 of Surah Al-Muzzammil)
When one wants to meet with a respected person, he would wear his best clothes and perfume. Obviously, reading the Quran, which is so respected and significant, requires manners observing which shows how we revere this Sacred Book. Some of these manners include performing ablution, observing Taharah (being clean and pure), brushing teeth, etc.
Observing these would help us benefit more from the Noble Quran.

The word Tarteel (used in Verse 4 of Surah Al-Muzzammil) highlights the need for reading the Quran along with contemplating and reflecting on the content and meaning of the verses. While we benefit from the Quran merely by reading, we would be blessed even more by contemplating the Holy Book’s concepts.
It has been narrated from Imam Sadiq (AS) who said: Tarteel means that in reciting the Quran, when you reach verses about paradise, pray God to give you paradise and when you reach verses about hell, take recourse to God.
One of the blessings of reciting the Quran is that it gives peace and calm to the soul, as the verses of the Holy Book remind us of God. “Remembrance of God certainly brings comfort to all hearts.” (Verse 28 of Surah Ar-Raad)
